Hi, I’m Priscilla Alabi. A Yoruba-American, from Nigeria living on Lenape-land (aka Brooklyn, New York).
I’m an award-winning multimedia journalist, storyteller, and educator. I make narrative work that sits at the intersection of identity, culture, aging, and becoming. My work and career spans across public radio, narrative audio, and investigative reporting. My most recent producing and editing credits include PBS Nature’s Going Wild with Dr. Rae, Snap Judgment’s Mind Your Own with Lupita Nyong’o, and Vox Creative’s Into the Mix with Ben & Jerry’s.
I’m also the creator and host of 35 & Geriatric, the narrative podcast born out of the panic and hilarity of entering my mid-thirties as a child-free single Black woman who’d like to change both.
This Substack is where I share the behind-the-scenes process, essays and random thoughts on aging and identity, and the unfolding of the show itself. I’m building this independently, with humor, vulnerability and the hope that these stories make you feel less alone.
Welcome to my corner of the internet. I’m so happy you’re here.

Join the village
In Yoruba culture, we say it takes a village. Think of this as our town square: a place for much needed conversations around aging, and perhaps find solutions. Share your reflections, join the comments, invite a friend or support the project with a paid subscription.
